Code of Conduct

Employees of Canberra Blind Society (CBS) must at all times during the course of their duties:
  • act with respect for individual rights to freedom of expression, self-determination, and decision-making in accordance with relevant laws and conventions
  • respect the privacy of people with disability
  • provide supports and services as required in a safe and competent manner with care and skill
  • act with integrity, honesty, and transparency
  • promptly take steps to raise and act on any concerns about matters that might have an impact on the quality and safety of supports provided to people with disability
  • take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to all forms of violence, exploitation, neglect, and abuse of people with disability, and
  • support EFLC’s values of respect, flexibility and equality, namely:
    • upholding confidentiality and adopting a non-judgmental attitude to foster trust and mutual respect between all staff, volunteers and clients
    • retaining flexibility to alter services and directions as required in response to the changing needs of Canberra Blind Society clients, and
    • promoting a spirit of equality with dignity with a view to removing all barriers that may divide stakeholders.
