Code of Conduct
Employees of Canberra Blind Society (CBS) must at all times during the course of their duties:
- act with respect for individual rights to freedom of expression, self-determination, and decision-making in accordance with relevant laws and conventions
- respect the privacy of people with disability
- provide supports and services as required in a safe and competent manner with care and skill
- act with integrity, honesty, and transparency
- promptly take steps to raise and act on any concerns about matters that might have an impact on the quality and safety of supports provided to people with disability
- take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to all forms of violence, exploitation, neglect, and abuse of people with disability, and
- support EFLC’s values of respect, flexibility and equality, namely:
- upholding confidentiality and adopting a non-judgmental attitude to foster trust and mutual respect between all staff, volunteers and clients
- retaining flexibility to alter services and directions as required in response to the changing needs of Canberra Blind Society clients, and
- promoting a spirit of equality with dignity with a view to removing all barriers that may divide stakeholders.
